Paintings | The Purpose

Carlos Araújo's work does not end where the painting ends, he continues. They seem to have been born before they were painted. It`s fair, therefore, that they also live beyond the structural surface. A spiritual and ethereal breath involves his creations. It`s a breath that continues ineffably far beyond.

 

When looking at his painting, we do not ask ourselves what it`s, but who its author is. Carlos Araújo is an artist beyond his work. His job isn`t just to be seen. It cannot be judged as we look at it or as a painting born directly from the look, from the brushstroke, from the color, from the relationships of the tones. Each of his works is born as the worlds are born. Each job is a world apart. Can we judge the world?

 

His speech has a great creative impulse that adapts to nature where the feeling falls short the emotion. The emotional movement precedes the interpretation, dominates the choice of the theme, selects the data that permeate the sphere of congeniality to its artistic sensitivity.

Inspired by the "glacis" technique, by applying and superimposing a series of layers of fine colors, Carlos Araújo achieves an extremely subtle and vibrant chromatism. As a result it achieves a supernatural vision with different dimensions and depths.

 

A new relationship is born in front of his canvases, which is above all, an inner security of the motivations to be achieved. His biblical themes are chosen with deep and religious research, which reveals how the pictorial expression is based on Divine inspiration.

 

In the work "Study for a Biblical figure", donated to the Museum of Art of the Parliament of São Paulo, the image constitutes an expressive account and a vigorous representation of the most representative passages of the Sacred Scriptures. There`s no doubt that the creative spirit and greatness of his work make Carlos Araújo, the Michelangelo of the new Millennium.
